PURPOSE:To reduce a quantized noise without deteriorating a picture quality with a simple means by providing a means for removing a chrominance signal component left after a digital/analog conversion in a luminance signal processing system. CONSTITUTION:The composite video signal of an input terminal 20 is separated to a luminance signal and a chrominance signal in a low pass filter 21, a band pass filter 22. The separated luminance signal has the frequency characteristic of the low pass filter 21 set so as to leave a little chrominance signal component. The chrominance signal component is applied to an encoder 35 through a chrominance demodulator 24, an AD converters 26, 27, memories 29, 30 and the DA converter 32, 33. On the other hand, a luminance signal component is applied to the encoder 35 through a clamping circuit 23, an AD converter 25, a memory 28, a DA converter 31 and a low pass filter 34. The low pass filter 34 removes the chrominance signal component left in the luminance signal component.
