PURPOSE:To convert a character already inputted to the character in a different key input mode by providing a means to change the character of the document information in a second memory means of the designated scope to other character by referring to the information in a first memory means. CONSTITUTION:A character input means 101 having plural input character mode designating means, a first memory means to store plural pieces of mutually different character information, a second memory means to store the inputted document information with the character information of a mode designated by an input mode designating means by referring to the information in the first memory means, a displaying means 103 to display the inputted document information, a scope designating means 105 to designate a prescribed scope in the displayed document information and a means 104 changing the character of the document information in the second memory means of the designated scope to other character by referring to the information in the first memory means are equipped. Thus, at least a part of the inputted document information is designated and the character of the designated part can be changed to other character.
