Method and arrangement in a festoon dryer for timber, where the drying air circulates F1 through the timber batch P to be dried. In the method, use is made of a preheating zone Z1, through which the timber loads P0 are brought to the actual drying zone Z3, the dry timber loads PN being removed from the dryer at the final end of the dryer. A given, most suitably regulatable part flow F11 of the drying air flow F1 which has passed through the actual drying zone Z3, is conducted via the preheating zone Z1 using the arrangement according to the invention. The rest of said air flow F1 is conducted via the space 10c between the actual drying zone Z3 and the preheating zone Z1 to an air duct 11a. The timber load P0 which has been brought to the preheating zone can be moved in such a manner that, when preheating is progressing, the space 10c between the drying duct K and the load P0 to be preheated is reduced and, correspondingly, the space 10a which precedes the load P0 to be preheated is increased. <IMAGE> |
