Method for vibrating a piston (3) in a hydraulic cylinder (2) by a constant and repeated input and subsequent output of pressure oil in the space separating the piston from the front part (5) of the hydraulic cylinder. The present invention aims at efficiently and permanently withdrawing air or gas present in the channels (14-17) and inside the hydraulic cylinder during operation. This is achieved by supplying the pressure oil to a channel (14, respectively 16), whereas the hydraulic oil is discharged through an other channel (17, respectively 19) by scavenging the space separating the piston from the front part of the hydraulic cylinder.
