PURPOSE: To reduce a cost by calculating a desired evaporating temperature according to a characteristic formula based on a temperature drop time-desired evaporator temperature characteristic curve from a temperature drop time from a first evaporator temperature to a second evaporator temperature, comparing it with the evaporator temperature, and controlling an ice-making step. CONSTITUTION: Temperatures of first and second evaporators 3b of stable temperature drops and desired evaporator temperatures or higher are decided, and a relationship between a temperature drop time t and a desired evaporator temperature TE for making a desired ice during this period is represented by a formula I (A, T0 are constants). The T is previously set before starting an icemaking step to obtain a desired ice, and a hole diameter of the ice is altered according to an amplitude of an absolute value of the value T0 . To obtain the desired ice, the T0 is set, and stored together with the constant A in a microcomputer. Then, the desired temperature T0 is calculated from the timeΔt at that time according to the formula I. And, a temperature TE' of the evaporator 3b is monitored by an evaporator temperature detecting sensor 4, and when it becomes equal to the temperature TE, the ice-making step is completed.
