PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer useful for photoresist materials, organic semiconductors, optical information recording material, preceramics etc., by condensation of a dichloro-trimethyl-substituted phenyldisilane in the presence of an alkali (alkaline earth) metal. CONSTITUTION:The objective polydisilane constituted of recurring units of formula II can be obtained by condensation of a 1,2-dichloro-1,2,2-trimethyl-1- substituted phenyldisilane of formula I (R' is OH, amino, vinyl, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, OH with protective group or amino with protective group) [e.g. 1,2-dichloro-1,2,2-trimethyl-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)disilane] in the presence of pref. 2-3 equivalent times of an alkali (alkaline earth) metal. |
