A linear electric machine, especially a motor, includes two parts (1, 2) co-axially relative to one another and axially movable relative to one another, each with its own ferromagnetic core (5, 8) and an essentially cylindrical air gap separating these cores. The first part's (1) core (5) is formed with a number of peripherally running ring-formed strips (6) that are similarly divided axially, and intermediate ring-formed tracks (7). The second piece's (2) core (5) is on the face towards the air gap equipped with at least three sets (P1, P2, P3) of each at least two peripherally running ring-formed magnet poles (9, 10) situated next to each other with opposing polarities and with an axial centre distance conforming to half the axial parting for the strips (6) on the first part (1). The different sets of magnetic poles (P1, P2, P3) are arranged with a mutual axial space corresponding to (n+1/3) or (n+2/3) times the axial parting for the strips (6) on the first part (1), where n can be any integer including 0. The second part's (2) core (8) also bears two electric spools (L1, L2) positioned co-axially relative to the machine axle and axially positioned between said sets of magnetic poles (P1, P2, P3) and which are fed alternating current with frequency based on axial speed of movement for both parts (1, 2) and the number of strips (6) per axial length on the first part's (1) core (5) as well as a phase position corresponding to a mutual phase position for two phase currents in a symmetrical three phase system.<IMAGE> |
