A glass plate grinding machine (0) has a support conveyor (1) for holding one side of a glass plate and several parallel thin plates (52) for clamping the glass plate against the conveyor, one of the plate ends being offset from one end of the conveyor to expose part of the glass plate. An endless chain (21) is connected to the plates for moving the glass plate in the direction of the arrangement of the plates. A grinding disk (33) is provided for grinding the glass plate in the region of the offset. An adjustment device (34) is connected to the endless chain for adjusting the position of the end of the plates in the vertical direction perpendicular to the glass plate movement direction.
