PURPOSE: To obtain a flat multilayered recording material by using an optically transmissive carrier having dimensional stability and forming a recording layer of an amorphous lanthanide transition metal alloy in such a manner that the surface opposite to the carrier has a surface layer of specified thickness containing C, O, etc. CONSTITUTION: This recording material consists of an optically transmissive carrier (A) having dimensional stability and a recording layer (B) comprising an amorphous lanthanide/transition metal alloy which can be modified by heat. The layer (B) has <=20nm thickness on the opposite side to the carrier (A) and the surface layer contains C, O and/or N. the carrier (A). In this case, the recording layer (B) has specified thickness and contains lanthanides such as praseodymium, neodymium, samarium, europium, gadolinium and terbium, and iron and Co as transition metals. Further, the amorphous lanthanide transition metal alloy may contain yttrium, niobium, tungsten, Mn, Ni and Ge. |
