PURPOSE:To shorten a warming-up time and reduce a power consumption by mounting heating members on the side of pressure generation members on a nozzle forming substrate. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of pressure generation members 16 are mounted on a nozzle forming substrate 11 through a spacer 18 so that the respective top ends thereof are disposed at appropriate intervals on positions corresponding to nozzles 17 arranged on the nozzle forming substrate 11. A space surrounded by the nozzle forming substrate 11 and a casing 19 is filled with an ink 13, which is in a solid phase at ordinary temp. and in a liquid phase at high temp. When a voltage 20 is applied to a heating member 12 to warm up the ink 13 in a solid phase at ordinary temp., the heat is transmitted to a part 23 of the ink 13 in contact with the heating member 12 to turn the ink 13 into a liquid state from this part 23. At this time, a good heat transmitting efficiency can be obtained because the heating member 12 is disposed in contact with the ink 13, thus enabling the ink 13 in an ink jet head to melt rapidly with a small heating value. |
