PURPOSE: To reduce the reflection of an internal diode by containing a light amplifier diode having a guide wave region slanted by an angle in a range smaller than Brewer's angle relative to the perpendicular to the cleavage plane of the diode. CONSTITUTION:θb showing an angle between a straight line 300 indicating the perpendicular to the cleavage plane 6 of the diode and a broken line 302 is selected by the diode so as to provide the Brewer's angle. Brewer's angle is determined by ignoring the presence of covering 200 and further this Brewer's angle is calculated by using a wave guide region 3 and optical fiber 18 or the refraction factor of all the media adjacent to an external edge 201 of the covering 200. Also, the angleθv between the straight line 304 and the straight line 300 is apparently smaller than the Brewer's angle but larger than 0 degree. The wave guide is so arranged to provide the Brewer's angle with the perpendicular to the cleavage of the diode and moreover the optical fiber is so arranged to provide the Brewer's angle to the optical fiber, by which only the polarized light is able to pass through the optical fiber. Number of modes permitting the presence in the optical fiber can be decreased. Also, the whole of mode resonating in the optical fiber ring decreases and, in consequence, the whole of the intensity of the output of amplified light of ring laser decreases.
