POLY(VINYL ALCOHOL)-BASED FILM, PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLY(VINYL ALCOHOL)-BASED FILM, AND POLARIZING FILM

A poly(vinyl alcohol)-based film having a thickness of 5-60 µm, a width of 2 m or greater, and a length of 2 km or larger. When a virtual line having a length of 1 mm is drawn in any position in a surface of the poly(vinyl alcohol)-based film, the number of linear protrusions which cross the virtual line and have a width of 1-10 µm and a height at the intersection of 0.01-0.1 µm is 1-10. Due to this, the poly(vinyl alcohol)-based film is smooth and has a low haze. Hence, a polarizing film excellent in terms of polarizing performance and light transmission can be obtained.
