Wallboard unit for, for example, radiation protection in an X-ray examination room, which wallboard unit is made from an essentially homogeneous solid material which absorbs X-ray radiation. The X-ray-absorbent property in the wallboard has been achieved by including in the material composition structure of the board unit, apart from binding and supporting components, a material which strongly absorbs X-ray radiation. <IMAGE>
