A method for tipping surgical sutures which includes winding at least one suture around a means for holding the suture, the suture holding means including means to delimit at least one selected portion of the suture, generating a mist of tipping agent, wherein the tipping agent comprises a monomeric cyanoacrylate and passing only the selected portion of the suture through the mist of tipping agent to apply the tipping agent to said selected portion.
