PURPOSE: To provide a method for detecting IgE and an apparatus and a kit therefor. CONSTITUTION: The presence or amt. of IgE in a sample is determined by a method wherein an allergen is mixed with a pretreatment substance selected from a group consisting of a modifying agent, an org. solvent, a crosslinking agent and a conc. salt soln. to prepare an allergen compsn. (a) and this allergen compsn. is fixed on a solid phase (b) and a sample is brought into contact with this solid phase to form an allergen/allergen specific IgE antibody complex to fix the antigen in the sample on the solid phase (c) and the fixed allergen specific IgE antibody is detected to determine the presence or amt. of IgE in the sample (d). The allergen compsn., an apparatus and a kit used in this method are provided.
