PURPOSE: To generate a small electric resistance and a large structural strength by forming a first layer and second layers from a specific substance constituting electrolyte, and arranging them so that they contact with the negative and positive electrodes of each cell. CONSTITUTION: An electrolyte constituent material 10 is composed of the first layer 14 which is ion conductive and the second layer 12 which is made of an electroconductive substance and has a sufficient structural strength. The first layer is made of an ion electroconductive glass, or for example ANL glass such as crystal ceramic or aluminum oxide of beta type, and the second layer is formed preferably from titanium oxides, for example rutile (TiO2 ) and one of the biproducts (TiNO2 N-1 , where N is 4-10) generated with it. The main surface 22 of the outside of the layer 14 contacts with the negative electrode 24 (sodium sulfide, polysulfide, etc.) of an Na/S or Na/Mcl2 cell, and the main surface 16 of the layer 12 contacts with the positive electrode 20 of the cell. It is preferable that the layer 14 has a smaller thickness than the layer 12. |
