PURPOSE:To provide the title compound capable of suppressing the activity of protein synthesis-inhibitory antibiotics, useful for e.g. screening antibiotics for resistant bacteria, isolated from a culturned product of the mutant NP-1 of Streptomyces actuosus. CONSTITUTION:The mutant NP-1 of Streptomyces actuosus is put to shaking culture at 27 deg.C for 7 days, the cultured is then centrifugalized and microbial cells are collected; a product is then extracted from these microbial cells and recovered from the extract liquor, and then dissolved in a solvent. The resulting solution is put to high-performance liquid chromatography to isolate and purify the product, thus giving the objective novel compound MSOG-1, which has the following characteristics: (1) appearance: colorless and powdery; (2) molecular weight: 1074; (3) ultraviolet absorption spectra (in the form of a methanol solution): lambdamax=238, 325(nm); (4) infrared absorption spectra (liquid film technique): 3400-3200, 2950, 2920, 1660, 1530, 1480, 1240, 1160, 750(cm<-1>);(5) solubility: soluble in methanol, ethanol, THF; sparingly soluble in water; (6) color reaction: positive to anthrone-sulfuric acid reaction. |
