<p>PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous recording by detecting whether a tape is analog or digital while just installing the tape, and performing digital recording only when the installed tape is digital and it is capable of recording. CONSTITUTION:A tape mechanism 3 can be installed with an ACC 1 and a DCC 2 and is equipped with a digital/analog recording and reproducing head 4 and respective detection switches SW 1 to 4. A detection means 6 detects whether the tape is an ACC 1 or an DCC 2, and a detection means 7 detects the recordability by means of the presence or absence of a hole formed to determine the availability of digital recording to the DCC 2. A control means 5, when the means 6 detects the DCC 2 and the means 7 detects the recording available state, sets a digital recording circuit 17 to be operated and performs digital recording only in the DCC 2. Thus, the erroneous recording in a tape not capable of digital recording can be prevented and the operation in accordance with the analog or digital tape can be made.</p> |
