摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a method in which an action site or an action region can be estimated based on only the amino acid sequence of the objective polypep tide or protein or the nucleotide sequence of a polynucleotide and general appli cation to a wide range of the polypeptide or protein or polynucleotide can be made. CONSTITUTION:The objective method for determining an action site or an action region of a physiologically active polynucleotide or polypeptide is to determine the value of secondary structural energy in many partial regions of a nucleotide sequence (the value of local secondary structural energy) from the nucleotide sequence in a polynucleotide capable of coding the physiologically active polynucleotide or polypeptide, on the other hand, determine the value of the secondary structural energy (the value of reference energy) of the whole nucleotide sequence and to determine the action site or action region from a site where the value of the local peak secondary structural energy higher or lower than that of the reference energy is formed.
