PURPOSE:To always perform a speed change with proper timing by discriminating speed changes with a one-way clutch functioning from that without functioning, and switching timing control by rotation ratio and timing control by a timer in accordance with a result of this discrimination. CONSTITUTION:In the case of controlling an automatic transmission, provided with a torque converter 10, first/second planet gear sets 15, 16, clutches 18, 20, 22, 24, brakes 26, 28 and low, forward and one-way clutches 29, 30, by a control unit, first from a throttle opening and an output shaft rotational speed, a speed change shift in the present point of time is determined. Next at running time with a speed change necessary, the speed change is judged for whether the one-way clutch functions or not. At YES judging time, control of switching a solenoid to a condition after the speed change is performed when rotation ratio of input and output shafts 13, 14 is changed to a predetermined value, and at NO judging time, control of switching the solenoid to a condition after the speed change is performed when elapsed a predetermined time after starting the speed change. |
