摘要 The process consists of the following stages: (a) raw materials (1) are used which are essentially free from sulphur; (b) a biosynthesis gas is produced from the raw material by partial oxidn. using an oxygen-rich gaseous medium in a reactor (2); (c) an oxygen/raw material mass balance is established and maintained in the reactor, by maintaining the ratio of hydrogen content minus carbon dioxide content, all divided by carbon dioxide content, in the biosaynehesis gas in the range 1.5 to 2.8; (d) the biosynthesis gas from the reactor is freed from suspended solids in a separator (8); and (e) the resulting gas is converted to methano in a synthesis plant consisting of a compressor (14), methanol reactor (15), catalyst (16), methanol separator (17) and residual gas recirculation (22). USE/ADVANTAGE - Methanol is produced from a raw material which is cheap and universally available. The process is practially free from problems with sulphur in waste disposal or emissions, and is simple and economical to carry out.
