PURPOSE:To provide a picture display method and its device which can always display picture data on a CRT display with the prescribed normal pattern which ever of vertically long picture data or horizontally long picture data, or which ever for a vertically long or horizontally long CRT display screen. CONSTITUTION:This device is characterized in that the device is provided with a picture memory 11 which has a region enabling storing both picture data of at least vertically long picture data 4a and horizontally long picture data 4b, a display control section 14 which has a vertically long picture output circuit 13a and a horizontally long picture output circuit 13b corresponding to vertically long picture data 4a and horizontally long picture data 4b stored in this picture memory 11, a display device 9 which can display vertically long picture data 4a or vertically long picture data 4b stored in the picture memory 11 switching selectively a display screen 2 to a vertically long screen 2a or a horizontally long screen 2b, and a switching section 15 which selectively switches picture output circuits 13a, 13b of the display control section 14 depending on a direction of the display screen 2 of the display device 9. |
