Anti-metallothionein monoclonal antibody and its diagnostic use

An anti-metallothionein (MT) monoclonal antibody (E9 MAb) is disclosed having the ability to recognise MT in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue types. Also disclosed is the diagnostic use of the E9 MAb in cancer prognosis based upon the degree of MT expression in tissue samples. In a preferred embodiment, the over-expression of MT in invasive ductal carcinoma is found to be associated with poor tumour prognosis.
