METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING PASSENGER CONVEYOR HAND RAIL

PURPOSE:To produce high quality hand rail for passenger conveyor with a good yield rate. CONSTITUTION:A core body 4 with nearly C-shape cross section is formed from a laminate canvas and rubber material 5a is extruded from the head 17 of an extruding machine to form a decorative rubber layer directly on the core body 4. The head 17 is provided with a through hole 18 through which the core body 4 on a guide rail is passable and a feed passage 20 for feeding a molten rubber material 5a therethrough and the feed passage 20 is provided with a C-shape molding part corresponding to the outer periphery of the core body 4. A thin-walled part 23 is formed between an extruding end 17d and the core body 4 with a space 23d to separate the feed passage 20 and the through hole 18. Since this device does not require the rubber material 5a to be preformed into a decorative rubber layer, the hand rail is produced efficiently with a good yield rate without the inward entry of foreign matter. Since the rubber material 5a is extruded with a space retained from the core body, a predetermined amount of the rubber material is forced out on the core body by varying the traveling speed of the core body.
