PURPOSE:To reduce shift operation force, and to reduce the space connected with the axial direction of a transmission by minimizing the mass of a shift operation system. CONSTITUTION:A speed change operation device of a manual transmission is provided with a pair of transmission steps that are opposed to one another in the direction of shift operation with a boundary of a neutral position on a shift operation pattern, a shaft 20 supported with a transmission case 10 so that the shaft is reciprocated interlocking with the shift operation when the transmission steps are achieved or canceled, a pair of shift forks 40, 50, which are slid in a correlated manner with the shaft 20, and which are arranged corresponding to the both of the transmission steps, and a holding mechanism, by which the shift fork corresponding to one speed change step is held to be operated with the shaft 20 during the shift operation between the neutral position of the shift operation pattern and the speed change step, and by which the shift fork corresponding to the other speed change step is held along with the side of the transmission case 10. |
