MAGNETIC HEAD UNIT SUITABLE FOR MAGNETIC TAPE HANDLER AND ITS USE

PURPOSE: To improve contact between a magnetic tape and a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic tape unit(MTU) is provided with a magnetic head unit 17 having a magnetic head 25, that magnetic head 25 has plural conversion gaps extended in a head surface for writing/reading information to a magnetic tape 55 and further, this magnetic head unit 17 has two height regulating parts 33 and 35. These height regulating parts 33 and 35 respectively have tape guide planes 41 and 43 for guiding the magnetic tape along one side terminal edge 67 and a tangential line 53 in contact with both the tape guide planes 41 and 43 while being extended perpendicularly to a virtual line 51 parallel with a conversion gap inside these head planes. The magnetic head unit 17 is loaded into this device so as to be swung and can be swung around an oscillation axis 19 extended vertically to a contact plane in contact with this head plane near the conversion gap under the influence of the magnetic tape 55, and that oscillating axis 19 is extended through a center of gravity 109 of the magnetic head unit 17.
