<p>PURPOSE:To provide a grinding wheel having a long use life and a high grinding performance and adapted to be used for several kinds of grinding processes, by forming an abrasive layer in which abrasive is dispersed and fixed in a binding layer on the grindstone, and by using cubic boron nitride and polycrystal cubic boron nitride for the abrasive. CONSTITUTION:In a grinding wheel in which an abrasive layer composed of abrasive 4 dispersed and fixed in a binding phase 3 is formed on the outer surface of a metal base 1, cubic boron nitride (CBN) and polycrystal cubic boron nitride (PCBN) are used for the abrasive 4. Further, a metal bond is used for the binding phase 3, and the grinding wheel has a degree of concentration in a range from 20 to 70. Further, the abrasive 4 has a particle size ratio of CBN:PCBN=1.3 to 1.5:1, and a mixing ratio of CBN:PCBN=6:40 to 30:70. With the use of the grinding wheel for grinding. The CBN in the abrasive 4 is suitably disintegrated so as to enhance its function, thereby it is possible to enhance the grinding speed.</p> |
