A fastening for a lid element of a vehicle, especially for a lid of a glove compartment of a motor vehicle, comprises a U-shaped shackle held on a carrier part and a rotary latch cooperating with the shackle. So that relatively high production and assembly tolerances can be compensated and a simple and rapid adjustability between the shackle and the rotary latch is guaranteed, provision is made for the U-shaped shackle to be made adjustable relative to the carrier part and to be fixable in the desired position by means of a clamping device cooperating with the carrier part.
