PURPOSE:To provide polyvinyl alcohol-based fibers useful for reinforcing rubber products such as tires, hoses and belts, excellent in bond strength to rubber and hardly developing fluffs in the twisting and rewinding processes. CONSTITUTION:The polyvinyl alcohol-based fibers which are imparted with an isocyanate or blocked isocyanate are characterized by the presence of an oleic ester in an area close to their surface and then are used for rubber reinforcing.
