<p>PURPOSE: To provide a process for easily, cost effectively and directly producing black and color toner compsns. having excellent pigment dispersion and narrow GSD. CONSTITUTION: This process for producing the toner compsns. having controlled grain sizes includes the steps of preparing a dispersion contg. pigments and ionic surfactants in water; shearing this pigment dispersion together with a latex mixture composed of the paired ionic surfactant and nonionic surfactant of the ionic surfactants and resin particles to generate the flocs of the particles; agitating the flocs at about 300 to about 1,000 revolutions per minute to form the stable flocs of the toner sizes, then further lowering the agitating rate to about 100 to about 600 revolutions per minute; further, adding the anionic or nonionic surfactant of a range of about 0.1 to about 10wt.% of the weight of the water to suppress the growth or increase of the particles; and heating and fusing the flocculated particles to a temp. higher by about 5 to about 50 deg.C than the glass transition temp. Tg of the resin, thereby forming the toner comspns. formed of the resin and the pigments.</p> |
