AIR FILTRATION MEDIUM AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE: To produce a glass fiber air filtration medium in a few steps at a low cost by randomly mixing specified coarse and fine glass fibers in a specified proportion and binding the fibers with a binder. CONSTITUTION: About 25-35 wt.% glass fibers having about 2μm average diameter and about 65-75 wt.% glass fibers having about 6μm average diameter are mixed and formed into a blanket 12. The glass fibers are randomly mixed and bound together at the crossed parts with a resin binder sprinkled on the glass fibers during the formation into the blanket 12. An air permeable lightweight meshed lining sheet 14 is fitted to the glass fiber blanket 12 to obtain the objective glass fiber air filtration medium 10.
