A transmission system used for digital broadcasting by the OFDM method, comprising an encoder to encode information from plural information sources; a multiplexer; a communication channel encoder; a selector; a time base; a frame synchronization symbol generator; a pilot symbol generator; and an inverted fast Fourier transformer, and transmitting a pilot signal comprising plural frequencies set orthogonally with each another, and a receiving system for said transmission system being provided with at least a means to estimate the timing offset or frequency offset, or both offsets to occur in itself by estimating the frequency and phase of the pilot signal using the output of the Fourier transformation carried out for said received pilot signal and a means to control the sampling timing or the frequency/phase correction, or a means to control both of them to acquire the timing or frequency synchronization, or both synchronizations using those estimated values. <IMAGE> |
