The mattress-base has a head part (2) which can be inclined and is articulated to its horizontal part (8). It is moved by a motor and pivoting rods (3, 3'). A telescopic head (4) is mounted on the end of the head part and extends this when it is inclined. The head part has an endless belt (5) which turns round pullets (10, 11). Its lower end has a hook (12) which cooperates with a roller (15), on the free end of the upper rod (3). The upper part of the belt is joined to one end of the telescopic head by a finger (13).
