PURPOSE: To facilitate mode discrimination at the time of reproduction. CONSTITUTION: This information recording method is intended to record digital information on the inclined track of a magnetic tape T capable of being inserted into a conventional device capable of reproducing analog information by using rotary heads V1, V2, A1, A2 and a control signal 21a as a reference for tracking at the time of reproduction on the magnetic tape T. By shifting the rotating phase of the rotary head determined based on the control signal 21a by about 180 deg. from the rotating phase of the rotary head at the time of recording analog information, the digital information is recorded.
