<p>PURPOSE: To improve the processing speed of a host computer by preventing the backup memory for a cache memory from being consumed as to an input/ output control unit of computer system which uses a magnetic storage device and a cache memory. CONSTITUTION: Two input/output control units 3 and 4 which has device power source control parts 31 and 41, device state monitor parts 32 and 42, and cache memory management parts 33 and 34 are equipped internally with communication interfaces 34 and 44 which can inform the device power source control parts 31 and 41 of device operation states from the device state monitor parts 32 and 42 and signal lines 35 and 45 which instruct a battery unit 5 whether the cache memory is to be backed up or not. Further, they are provided with backup decision means 31b and 41b which judge whether cache memory 6 needs to be backed up when both the systems are powered off and backup instruction means 31c and 41c which output backup instruction to the battery unit 5 through the signal lines 35 and 45 when the cache memory needs to be backed up.</p> |
