<p>PURPOSE: To provide an adsorbent which has excellent heat resistance and shows high adsorption performance by using an Mn-Ti based surface-reformed titania as the carrier and oxides of metals such as Ru, etc., and oxides of other metals such as Ag, etc., as the adsorbing components of the adsorbent. CONSTITUTION: In this adsorbent, an Mn-Ti based surface-reformed titania that is obtained by adding an Mn compound to Ti in the form of amorphous titania and calcining the resultant material is used as the carrier and oxides of Ru and Ce and an oxide(s) of at least one metal selected from Ag, Cu and Mn are used as the adsorbing components. The production of this NOX adsorbent comprises, for example: impregnating amorphous titania with a manganese nitrate aq. solution; calcining the impregnated amorphous titania to obtain an Mn oxide-Ti based surface-reformed titania carrier; immersing the carrier in a metal nitrate solution contg. metals used for the adsorbing components; and thereafter, calcining the resultant material. At this time, the amorphous titania used is a platelike material obtained by impregnating a noncombustible fiber preform with a titania colloidal solution and drying the impregnated preform. The adsorption performance of the adsorbent thus obtained is not lowered in any degree even by repeating adsorption and desorption of NOX.</p> |
