The pulse counter includes a microprocessor (MP) programmed to perform a pulse evaluation, and a forgery-proof storage of the measurement data of each individual measuring process. The pulses are provided by a measurement role coupled to a pulse generator. A measurement documenter (MD) is provided in form of a mass storage arranged in a compact casing (G) which is secured against unauthorised opening. A display is pref. provided for indicating the measured values. A converter is pref. provided at the input of the microprocessor for converting light pulses, provided by an arrangement on the measuring role, into electrical pulses.
