PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which prevents the light leakage in sealing parts and the peeling of the substrates in the sealing parts and has excellent display quality and reliability and wide display regions. SOLUTION: A black matrix BM consists of a black org. resin and a sealing material SL is provided with light shieldability. The light shieldability and optical characteristics of color tones of the light shieldable sealing material SL and the black matrix BM are equaled to each other. The light absorbance (OD value) in the visible light region of both is 1.5 to 3.5 and the color tones in terms of a C light source are in a range of 0.2 to 0.5 in both of x and y. The light shieldable sealing material SL is formed by adding a black coloring agent to a thermosetting type epoxy resin consisting of a phenolic resin of tri- or higher nuclides as a hardener.
