<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the processing efficiency of the entire system by reading a cell from an external memory only when a management table corresponding to a received cell is not stored in an internal memory of the device so as to reduce access frequency to the external memory. SOLUTION: A VTC cache control means 11 is provided with a means for judging whether or not a management table is stored in a VTC cache means 13 and a means for counting number of cells stored in a reception cell FIFO means 12, and also a means for controlling transfer of a management table corresponding to the result of discrimination, the count and the processing state of a protocol processing section 8. Thus, when the management table is not stored in the means 13, the management table is read from the 1st memory 15 and transferred to the means 13. When the processing section 8 finishes the processing and no cell is stored in the means 12, the management table with respect to the cell whose reception processing is finished and stored in the means 13 is transfer and written in the 1st memory 15.</p> |
