<p>A kingpin assembly (20) having upper and lower yokes (24 and 26) of a steering spindle (28) straddling upper and lower sides of an end portion (32) of an axle (30). A kingpin (36) is secured within an axle bore (34) and a sleeve (70) resides within a gap (66) existing between the periphery (57 and 59) of end portions (40 and 42) of the kingpin (36) and the interior (67 and 69) of steering spindle yoke bores (27 and 29). A pair of roller bearings (74) are mounted internally of the sleeve (70). The sleeve (70) has an integral flange (88), and the sleeve (70), flange (88), and roller bearings (74) form an integral unit which is inserted into the steering spindle bores (27 and 29) and into engagement with a respective kingpin end (40 and 42).</p> |
