<p>A pneumatic assembly (1) having combined approach and strike functions, and suitable for incorporation into a foundry core sand removal apparatus. The assembly comprises a barrel (1) comprising compressed air supply means (6, 7, 8) and pulsed air discharge means (25, 26); an approach cylinder (9) mounted in the barrel (2); a striking piston (11) mounted in the approach cylinder (9); a valve (13) and a valve housing (12) mounted above the approach cylinder (9) and communicating with the compressed air supply means (6, 7, 8); and a punch (23) rigidly connected to the end portion (9a) of the approach cylinder (9) projecting from the barrel (2). The pulsed air discharge means include a manifold (25) arranged to enable the mounting of a pulsed air discharge duct (26) and means (35, 36, 37, 38) provided thereon for analysing at least part (26b) of the pulsed air flow so that the output of the assembly (1) may be remotely controlled.</p> |
