The invention relates to an autoclave for pressurized-steam treatment of porous, mineral feedstock (5) comprising an essentially horizontal, circular cylindrical interior which is enclosed by an autoclave jacket (1), and has an inner chamber (2) which accommodates the feedstock (5) and a heating means (11) which serves to generate superheated steam. In this design, axial steam delivery ducts (8') are located in the lateral curved regions of the autoclave jacket (1), said steam delivery ducts being separate from the remaining inner chamber (2) and having inlet orifices which are connected to a blower, the baffles (6) being provided, along their base-side bottom edge, with nozzle-like outlet orifices (9) for superheated steam, the size and the distribution over the length of the autoclave of said outlet orifices being chosen so as to achieve uniform steam delivery over the length of the autoclave from both sides into the inner chamber (2) which accommodates the feedstock (5), whilst extraction orifices (10) for steam are arranged in the upper region of the autoclave jacket (1).
