PURPOSE:To execute map matching which has conformed with a running state by changing a parameter which is used for a matching operation, based on a running pattern which has been detected by a matching parameter changing means. CONSTITUTION:The title device is constituted so that a matching parameter based on a running parameter which has been detected by a running pattern detecting means F can be changed by a matching parameter changing means G, when the present position of the own car which has been conjectured by an own car conjecturing means C is brought to matching with a road on a map by a map matching means E. For instance, at the time of running along an area in which there are many intersections and the road density is high such as a city area, the accuracy of map matching is improved by executing minute matching, and at the time of running along an area in which there are a few intersections and the road density is low such as the suburbs, the efficiency of map matching is improved by executing rough matching which has sacrificed the accuracy to some extent. In such a way, appropriate map matching corresponding to a running state is executed. |
