PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a core formed into a U-shape by facing the open edge parts of the core with a recording medium and making a magnetic field from either of the opening edge parts act on a vertical magnetizing film. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 2 is formed by fixing a core 24, which is composed of Mn-Zn ferrite as a soft magnetic material and formed into the U-shape, to one edge of a slider 21 formed into a plate shape with a nonmagnetic material by a fixing material 25 composed of glass. Further, while a coil 23 is wound around either of the open edge parts of the core 24 at the nearest distance of 0.1-0.8mm from the open edge part, the magnetic head 2 is composed so that the magnetic field from the open edge part can act on the vertical magnetizing film. Consequently, a closed magnetic circuit can be formed on the open edge part at which the core 24 is opposed to the recording medium, leakage flux is made larger, and the magnetic field to act on the recording medium is increased. Thus, the efficiency can be increased. |
