The head of the jewelry has a pivot (1) which has two bearing surfaces (2,3). The largest surface (2) has four semicircular notches (5,6,7). The lower part of the pivot engages in an open cylinder that has two corresponding projections that lock into two of the notches. Two notches (5) allow the pivot to be put into the cylinder and two blind notches (6,7) lock on to the projections when the pivot is turned through 90 deg in either direction. A coil spring in the cylinder exerts pressure under the pivot, to hold it in its locked position.
