PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an area where includes no defect usable without making the whole cache memory unusable by storing address information on an area where defective data is present in a status part. SOLUTION: A least recent used(LRU) part 1 stores set address information on an area where the least recent used data among data stored in data array parts 4a to 4d is stored. Tag parts 2a to 2d store tags corresponding to block numbers in a main memory. Then a CPU conducts a self-test of the cache memory when powered ON, reads data out of the data array parts 4a to 4d and compares them with normal values to check whether or not there is an area where defective data is stored, and writes defect detection information indicating the set address where the defective data is present in the status part among 3a to 3d corresponding to the data array part among 4a to 4d. |
