Universal test for friction, wear and lubrication

Two samples (2, 4) are moved relative to each other whilst remaining in contact with a load, the contact surfaces (5a-5c) between the samples and load being moved relative to both samples along two contact paths (14a, 14b). Each point (7) along the first contact path (14a) is forced into contact with a unique point along the second contact path (14b). An Independent claim is also included for the testing equipment.
