AIR BAG AND MANUFACTURE THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the manufacturing of an air bag and prevent a heavy hit on occupants during its expansion. SOLUTION: An upper surface ground fabric 1 and a bottom surface ground fabric 2 having an opening part 20 in which an inflator 3 is arranged are formed in shape of a bag by a suturing operation. A belt shaped inside cloth 5 is sewn together with sing cords 41 to the ground fabric 2 near the opening part 20 so as to cover the inside of the opening part 20 in an annular shape therewith. The sling cords 41 are connected to sling cords 42 sewn to the upper surface ground fabric 1 to regulate the shape of an air bag 100 during its expansion. Shape regulating parts (not shown) are formed at the four corners of the inside cloth 5 by suturing and injection parts 8 are formed by side end parts thereof. The inside cloth 5 is expanded by gas jetted from the inflator 3 before the ground fabrics 1 and 2. The gas is jetted from the injection parts 8 in a gas flow 6 in the direction (vertical direction) substantially perpendicular to the direction of occupants. This gas flow 6 becomes a gas flow 7 along the inner peripheral surfaces of the ground fabrics 1 and 2. The gas flows 6 and 7 enable the air bat 100 to be expanded substantially vertically to the occupants.
