PURPOSE:To improve startability of a vehicle with a continuously variable transmission at the time of a throttle full opening start. CONSTITUTION:A lockup clutch is temporarily put in engagement when a throttle is fully opened, and vehicle speed is less than a specified value for starting. Consequently, increase in engine rotational speed is suppressed, and thereby substantial drive force transmitted to a driving wheel is increased. By making a speed change ratio at the time of full opening start the value less than the maximum speed change ratio, the same actuation is achieved. |
