<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a proliferation promoter intended for hematopoietic stem cells useful for e.g. treating the cytopathology in hemocytic system and contributing to elucidating the initiation mechanism of the development of hematopoietic stem cells, by including oncostatin M as active ingredient. SOLUTION: This promoter contains oncostatin M as active ingredient, and is obtained, preferably, by the following procedure: cells derived from the aorta- genital ridge-mesonephros region (AGM region) of mammal fetus is cultured in a medium containing at least oncostatin M, SCF and bFGF to effect the in vitro culture of the cells, and compounds to be tested are then allowed to act on the resulting cells to make a screening of a compound having the activity to promote or inhibit the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells.</p> |
